Quality Product, Warm and Windproof. This is my second Patrol Jacket (purchased my first, an XL last season..too big...traded to a pal). At 6-1 190 with 36 inch arms, I found that the LG fits best. I have 20+ VT ski days with this coat (coldest was -7, windy & no sun) & have been comfortable with just a base layer and very light fleece. No real need to layer much. Unless sedentary, I think the coat is too much for temps above 20....although the pit-zips help. The coat is VERY windproof and more durable than I thought it would be. Two slight flaws - The hood fits over a ski helmet but does not want to stay on (even with the draw-cord pulled tight) and the Pit-zip tabs are too small. I am a big fan of this garment.

Couldn't be happier After owning the jacket for about 3 weeks, I couldn't be happier. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to take it on the mountain yet (not cold enough), so I can't speak to the performance of the powder skirt or the wideness of the collar (which seems big enough to let some air in if you're going at a good clip) that other people have mentioned, but I can say that this thing keeps the cold out. Great hand pockets on the sides, all of the zippers are really smooth (the importance of which is not to be underestimated). This is a perfect weight for mountain-towning it or if you live in a generally cold place. Adequate storage in and outside the jacket for your precious belongings. Also, I don't see any problems with the feel of any of the materials, as mentioned. I felt like everything seems very high quality. Perhaps the exterior does seem like it could be prone to rips, but if you're going somewhere that you could rip this thing, just throw a shell on and don't sweat it.

Ok, not as warm as what I wanted Thin skinned, was looking for a super-warm jacket, and this one will probably do up to -10 or 15F but will need lots of layers or use a shell beyond that. The zipper on my jacket is sticky and will need waxing to loosen up. My last jacket was a 10 yr-old North Face (god knows what) with thick insulation, which is way warmer and heavier. Top range, I can sweat it out at 45 F, my estimate. Real comfy at 20 - 30F (no layers). Probably better for activewear rather than cold windy city wear. Great shipping from Altrec though.
